Lakeland competes in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) within Region XII of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Competition includes colleges from within the region of Ohio and Michigan, as well as independent contest opponents from New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, North Carolina, West Virginia and Florida.

Cabot, Strnad Garner Student-Athlete of the Year Honors
KIRTLAND, Ohio (June 17, 2015) – Freshman Carly Cabot (Aurora, Ohio) of the women's volleyball team and sophomore AJ Strnad (Eastlake, Ohio) of the baseball team were named Lakeland's Female and Male Student-Athlete of the Year, respectively, for the 2014-15 academic year.
Cabot, a first team all-conference selection, finished with 1,184 assists as a freshman setter. She handed out the second most assists in a single-season in program history while starting in all 33 matches. She ranked second in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) and ninth in the nation (NJCAA Division II) in assists. She was also 12th in the country in assists per set (9.25) and set a career-high with 54 helpers against Cincinnati State on October 11.
In the classroom, Cabot was named to the Dean's List for the fall semester and was a two-time S.T.A.R. student-athlete. She was one of nine Lakers named to the OCCAC All-Academic team for achieving a 3.3 GPA or higher during the 2014-15 academic year and will rank among the league's top returners next season.
Strnad is a two-time all-conference selection who played in 82 games during his two-year career with the Lakers. As a freshman center fielder he finished in the top-10 in the OCCAC in stolen bases, hits, total bases, RBIs, and triples.
As a sophomore, he finished second in the OCCAC with a .419 batting average in 19 league games. Overall, Strnad led the Lakers in runs (32), RBIs (30), batting average (.376), and home runs (4) while rattling off a 16-game hitting streak midway through the season. He also earned S.T.A.R. student-athlete status in his final two semesters at Lakeland.

Lakeland Student-Athletes Earn Academic Awards Following Spring Semester
KIRTLAND, Ohio (May 29, 2015) – The Lakeland Community College Athletic Department is proud to announce the academic award winners for the spring semester. In total, 21 were recognized as S.T.A.R. student-athletes, seven were named to the Dean's List, and nine garnered an Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) All-Academic Team selection.
In order to qualify for the Dean's List a student must be full-time enrolled and achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher. S.T.A.R. student-athletes must be full-time enrolled and achieve a 3.0 GPA or maintain a cumulative GPA above 3.0. Lastly, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher in order to qualify for the OCCAC All-Academic Team.
Six of seven programs were represented on the Dean's List and OCCAC All-Academic Team while all seven boasted S.T.A.R. student-athletes.

Lakeland Student-Athletes Recognized for Academic Achievement
KIRTLAND, Ohio (January 21, 2015) – The Lakeland Community College Athletic Department is proud to announce the academic award winners for the fall semester. In total, 35 student-athletes earned recognition for their outstanding achievements in the classroom.
In order to qualify for the Dean's List a student must be full-time enrolled and achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher. S.T.A.R. student-athletes must be full-time enrolled and achieve 3.0 GPA or maintain a cumulative GPA above 3.0.
Six of seven programs were represented on the Dean's List while all seven boasted S.T.A.R. student-athletes.
