LIBRARY

Eligibility

Interlibrary loan is used to borrow materials not available from Lakeland, OhioLINK, SearchOhio, or another local library. Books, journal articles, and other materials that circulate can be delivered to Lakeland. Students, faculty, staff of Lakeland Community College as well as community borrowers that have Lakeland Library accounts are eligible to submit interlibrary loan requests. There is no guarantee that all materials requested can be found, but every attempt is made to fill each request. Interlibrary loan frequently asked questions.

Submitting Requests

Before submitting an ILL request, make sure the material is not available from Lakeland, OhioLINK, SearchOhio or local public libraries (a reference librarian can help you with this). For magazine and journal articles, please check the OhioLINK databases before requesting.

ILL Form
Once you have determined the material is not available locally, print out the ILL form. Fill out a separate form for each request and then email them to a reference librarian as an attachment. Complete and accurate information is essential for us to get the material to you. The form may be emailed to: reflibrarian@lakelandcc.edu.

Multiple Requests
Multiple requests will be processed two per day, so please number your requests by priority. Library staff will inform you of any copyright law limits on your request.

Borrowing Policies

Costs
Normally ILL is free. However, the ILL form asks for willingness to pay due to possible fees for photocopying or supplying material by the lending library. If there is a charge, you will be contacted prior to processing the ILL. All charges must be prepaid at the circulation desk.

Arrival
Materials usually arrive in two to ten days. When your material has arrived you will receive a phone call or an email. If you have questions regarding the status of requested items, please call the library and ask to speak to the ILL specialist.

Loan Periods, Overdue and/or Lost Items
Photocopies are yours to keep. Books and other materials on loan from other libraries must be returned by the due date set by the lending library, usually between two and four weeks. You may return ILLs to the circulation desk, one of the library drop-boxes, or to your selected pick-up location. Fines are charged for overdue ILL materials and you must pay the full fee for lost ILL items.
