Theater & Dance Databases Theater & Dance Databases

Minimize
Databases

To find information on your topic in any of the databases listed below, search using relevant keywords such as "contemporary dance" or "stage lighting".

Databases require a few key search strategies to give you the best results:
1. Boolean Operators- AND, OR, NOT
lighting AND spotlight - narrows search by inclusion
actor OR thespian - expands search by inclusion
"dance technique" NOT ballet - narrows search by exclusion

2. Quotations- search for phrases using quotes
"contemporary dance" searches for a specific dance topic, instead of the database searching for the words "contemporary" and "dance" separately, which would return much broader results.

3. Truncation- use * at the end of a root word to search for multiple endings; danc* retrieves results for dancing, dancer, danced, dances
