 Whether
you're having difficulties in classes or breezing along, the Learning Center
can help you be a better student. In the Learning Center, located in A-1044,
you will
find Professional Tutors for many subjects, the Writing
Center to assist students
in the pursuit of excellent writing, the Testing
Center for make-up exams and the Counselor
for Students with Disabilities who coordinates accommodations for Lakeland
students with documented disabilities.
The
Learning Center provides FREE tutoring for many credit classes offered at
Lakeland. Lakeland's tutorial services are nationally certified by the College
Reading
and
Learning Association at the "Advanced" level. The majority of the tutors in the
Learning Center are "professionals" meaning they hold a bachelor's degree or
higher in the content areas they tutor. Even if you are not having problems
in your current
classes, tutoring can show you better ways to study and reinforce your learning
so that you will be a more successful Lakeland student.
Come
in and sign up for a tutor during the first week of classes to get the most help
and best choice of days and times. Tutoring begins the second week of classes.
However, you can sign up for a tutor anytime.
