Diversity Committee Purpose:

The purpose of the Diversity Advisory Committee is to advise the President regarding diversity and equal opportunity issues and to facilitate programs and services that meet the changing needs of individuals in a diverse community.

Diversity Committee Responsibilities:

The committee will:

  1. Identify the strengths, resources and needs of the college in matters of diversity.
  2. Assess and evaluate the progress of diversity on campus.
  3. Recommend proactive activities to address diversity issues of concern.
  4. Fund and endorse programs that will enhance diversity on campus.
  5. Oversee the development of programs and activities that foster equal opportunities for all.
  6. Review alleged patterns of discrimination.
  7. Recommend specific equal opportunity measures.
  8. Select recipient of the annual Diversity Award.
  9. Review Human Resources hiring practices report.

Each year, the Diversity Advisory Committee gives out a Diversity Award to an individual who has demonstrated work toward the goals of increasing diversity and/or decreasing discrimination at Lakeland. To nominate an individual for the Diversity Award, or to see past winners, click the link above.
