The Lakeland Women’s Center wants to let both male and female single parents know that they can be a success despite the obstacles.
The program, “Secrets of a Successful Student Parent,” is slated for Thursday, March 7 from 6:30 - 9 p.m. on the main campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094, in room A-2100.
The event is free, but registration is appreciated by calling 440-525-7322.
Nationally known inspirational speaker and author of “The Gloriously Simple Guide to Getting What You Want” Nicole Lynn Lewis will share her story overcoming tremendous obstacles and graduating from college despite having become a single mother during her teenage years. She has appeared on national television via the Steve Harvey Show and NBC Nightly News to talk about her story. This is Ms. Lewis’ first visit to Northeast Ohio.
This program is also sponsored in part by Lemons to Lemonade, a nonprofit started by Lakeland student (and single parent herself) Frechic Austin. She was recently profiled in The Plain Dealer for the support she provides to other college students who are also single parents, through her social media activities on Facebook and Twitter.
