A
Free College Class Through The Men’s Center?!
Are you thinking about taking college courses
to help you change careers or get a good/better
job? Now, through Lakeland Community College,
you have a free, no-risk opportunity to “test
drive” college while earning credit toward
a degree or certificate.
Assess your career interests.
By taking John Holland’s Self-Directed
Search, find out which occupations and which
educational opportunities best match your personality
and interests.
Take a free one-credit
hour class (1.75 contact hours per week, for
8 weeks). You can choose from one of the following:
• Essentials of Algebra (For those who need a math refresher)
• Orientation to College (Everything you need to know
about succeeding at college)
• Psychology of Effective Study (This is a fun one!)
• Introduction to Personal Computers (For the technically-hesitant)
This final step will help you:
• Define an academic program that is right for you
• Answer questions regarding your employability after completing that program
• Find out how much you can earn with a particular degree or certificate

If
you are eligible to participate, The Men’s
Gateway Project will cover the career assessment,
$15 admission fee, the $85 course fee, and the
cost of the text book. A value of up to $200!
When can you begin?
Step 1 can
be scheduled anytime. The
one-credit hour classes (Step 2) are
held
in roughly 8-week intervals. Step 3 can
be
scheduled immediately after completion of
the one-credit hour class.
Who’s eligible?

diploma preferred, but not required. Call to find out about other eligibility
requirements.
