Lakeland's 600+ hour Regional Basic Police Academy is administered by the Department of Continuing Education in conjunction with the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council (OPOTC). Both full and part-time academies are offered. The Basic Police Academy is required training to become a police officer in the State of Ohio. The curriculum includes all topics required by the OPOTC, and others as determined by the Academy Commander.
Lakeland NOW offering Part-Time Police Academy Classes will run September 2012 to April 2013. Applications will be available online soon.
