It is important to ask yourself this question as you begin to explore a particular career field or job industry. Let’s look at what is going on in Northeast Ohio in the bioscience industry.

Northeast Ohio is home to several world class research institutions such as Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute.

 

The Bioscience Industry of Northeast Ohio has come to the spotlight recently after the publicized efforts of BioEnterprise Corp. of Cleveland which was created in 2002 to “jumpstart” the Bioscience Industry.

BioEnterprise Corp. recently completed a project to count local bioscience companies in Northeast Ohio. Bioenterprise Corp. developed a definition of a “Bioscience Company”. This new emerging industry included companies in the following sectors:

Information technology
Health care services
Medical devices and equipment
Biopharmaceutical industry

The results of this project highlighted a total of 362 bioscience companies in Northeast Ohio. Survey results indicated a total of 235 companies in Cuyahoga County and 30 companies in Lake County.
