This series of still images plugged into an animation program documents release of a Oedogonium zoospore, a motile stage some algae use for dispersal. Upon release from the cell, a ring of flagellae developed on the distal end of the zoospore. It then quickly swam away to find a new site for attachment and growth as a new filament.
