This Costa hummingbird male was also staking out a feeding territory. To get this and the previous photo, I watched birds to see where they perched after chasing other birds. I had to stand very still with camera in hand, waiting for an opportunity that sometimes lasted only seconds. A teleconverter with a telephoto lens and flash helped get the image.
