What is it - is it right for me?

Distance Learning

This term is used to describe education that takes place outside of the traditional classroom.

  • Telecourses (at home via cable or videotape)
  • Remote Classroom (teacher in a different and distant classroom)
  • Online courses (taking a course via the internet)

Let's focus on online courses.

How does it work?

Your computer becomes your classroom. It is how you interact with your teacher and classmates.

Is it right for you?

Self-discipline, good time management skills, self-directed learner...

These are the words that come up most frequently in introductions to online courses.

If those words do not describe you yet, do something to change your study skills (take COUNS 1300, for example). Online courses are no short-cut to anything.

TIP: To Find Online classes in Lakeland's Credit Course Schedule
