Medical Laboratory Technology

[ click ]

There is a shortage of qualified laboratory employees. Employment opportunities are many. Some area hospitals are offering sign-on bonuses.

The MLT performs testing on blood and body fluids to determine the presence, extent or absence of disease and provide data needed to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.. 70% of all medical decisions are based on laboratory results.

MLT's are responsible for the operation of computers, precision instruments and other complex electronic equipment that is used in the clinical laboratory.

Students are trained to work in all departments of the clinical laboratory. They perform testing in blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology and urinalysis.

Most Medical Laboratory Technologists work in hospitals, but many other opportunities are open to them. Our graduates are employed in clinics, as sales representatives, in forensic laboratories and industrial laboratories.
