Study Photography in France July 2011 and earn college credit
Photography
is a technology dependent art form.
Lakeland students have access to the college’s
state-of-the-art labs and equipment for digital imaging,
black and white and color processing and printing,
densitometry, studio lighting, and medium and large
format cameras. Students may take individual classes
or pursue an associate of arts degree with an emphasis
in photography.
The curriculum will meet the needs of those who plan
careers in photography, professionals interested in
updating their skills, students who wish to transfer
credits to a four-year degree program, and those who
wish to use photography as a creative outlet in their
lives.
Lakeland’s photography department is one of
the best in Ohio, committed to a learning philosophy
that provides students with technical skills and a
thorough knowledge of the process of visual communication.
These elements provide photographers with the foundation
needed to be successful regardless of their specialty.
Expertise can only be gained through experience, and
the cornerstone of the photography curriculum is learning
by doing.
The department’s faculty are all working photographers
with professional experience that they incorporate
into their teaching. Through various exhibits on campus
and throughout the area, students have the opportunity
to display their work. Because of the department’s
outstanding reputation for preparing students to excel
in photography, an informal field experience program
exists wherein qualified students have the opportunity
to assist in some of the top studios in the area and
other professional environments such as the Cleveland
Museum of Art. Lakeland alumni hold important positions
in commercial studios, portrait studios, labs, and
photography departments throughout the area. |
