Check
it out!
|
| www.students.gov
The
Department of Education continues to speed ahead making the Internet a
wealth of information and a valuable resource to students. Students have
a portal to all types of services and programs that students may
need to utilize. You
will find valuable information on a variety of subjects such as planning
your education, paying for your education, career development, and community
service.
Along
with applying on-line with FAFSA on the Web, you can now do renewal applications
and make do-it-yourself corrections on-line.
In addition to all of the above, you can check out the data that
the Department of Education maintains about your financial aid history
using the National Student Loan Database (NSLDS).
Type NSLDS in the “Search for:” box, and it will link you to the
NSLDS database. You
will need a personal identification number (PIN) to get to your personal
information.
|
| |
Protect
your PIN |
| |
The
PIN is your electronic signature to the Department of Education.
This is a number you want to keep safe because you can use it year
after year when completing your renewal application for financial
aid. In addition, this number can be used if you need to make corrections
to your Student Aid Report (SAR) or to electronically sign your Master
Promissory Note (MPN) for a Stafford Loan. Because this number is
your access to your personal financial information, you should not
share it with anyone.
If
you need to find or change your PIN, go to www.pin.ed.gov.
