Nuclear Engineering Technology Program

Degree Specifications
A total of 70 credit hours are completed consecutively over a 21-month (four-semester) period. This is a full-time day program. The program will prepare students for employment in selected areas within a nuclear power plant. The technical course curriculum is designed around direct specifications from the nuclear power industry. A summer-paid field experience is provided in cooperation with the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. | Program Curriculum |



   Field Experience

 

 

Following Semester 2, students will be required to participate in a ten-week (forty hours per week) compensated and evaluated field experience at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, Ohio. Students will be exposed to a variety of specializations within the nuclear power plant, and will utilize the skills learned during their first two semesters. Students will be paid between $13.00 - $15.00 per hour, depending upon the job assignment. Field experience will begin in June and end in August. In observance of Independence Day, students will not be required to work the week of July 4th.

   

Program Tuition & Lab Fees

Potential Employment

Based on a student's grades, skills, and attitude, employment opportunities may exist with FirstEnergy upon graduation. Current starting salaries range from $16.00 to $20.00 per hour. Overtime is also compensated.
