Lakeland’s networking and digital communications
engineering technology program was designed to fill the need
for competent engineering technicians who have a broad background
in mathematics, physics, technical communications, electronics,
digital electronics, and PC operating systems specializing in
Cisco, Microsoft or CAD/CAM systems. This program emphasizes
basic knowledge and laboratory skills in electric circuits,
analog/digital electronics, micro controllers, digital communications,
fabrications, advanced microprocessors, PC networks, and application
programming in science and technology. Students may focus on
one of three areas of specialization: Cisco systems, computer
integrated manufacturing networking or Microsoft systems. There
are also five certificates available. |
| The additional training Lakeland offers as part
of the networking and digital communications engineering technology
program will result in graduating engineering technicians who
can meet the specialized communications needs of today’s
service and manufacturing industries. Graduates of the networking
and digital communications engineering technology program will
be able to design, install, operate, and trouble-shoot PCs, as
well as the physical layer of a network or a digital communications
system. Graduates will meet requirements to work as PC technicians,
network technicians, digital communications equipment technicians,
network service technicians, and installation technicians. With
the proper mix of basic courses and technical courses, this program
will prepare students to meet the communications needs of the
industrial sector and provide the graduate with the option to
continue at a four-year institution. |
| The Associate of Applied Science
degree in Networking & Digital Communications Engineering
Technology has three areas of specialization: Cisco systems,
computer integrated manufacturing networking or Microsoft systems.
Graduates will meet requirements to work as PC technicians,
network technicians, digital communications equipment technicians,
network service technicians, and installation technicians.
