Technology
Lakeland’s mechanical engineering technology program meets
the future technology needs of the workplace. This program is
technology based with a curriculum that includes product design
so students will gain exposure to all aspects of this field. Lakeland’s
mechanical engineering technology CAD labs are considered the
best in Northeast Ohio. There are more than 80 computer stations
with plotters, including printers, industrial grade AutoCAD and
micro station. Material testing and metallurgy laboratories further
provide technology students with crucial hands-on experience.
Graduates
Graduates of the mechanical engineering technology program have
gone on to hold jobs as technologists, designers and technicians
in local companies such as Parker Hannifin, Allen Bradley and
STERIS. Centrally located, Lakeland is in the heart of an industrial
based area which offers graduates
a variety of employment opportunities.
Employment
Employment in this field should increase 10 to 20 percent as the
demand for improved machinery and tools grows. Currently, there
is an increasing need for students with technology based training,
as well as experience in solid modeling, data acquisition and
real-time programming. Lakeland’s mechanical engineering
technology program is geared to keep students informed and trained
with regard to new trends in the industry.

The Associate of Applied Science degree in mechanical
engineering technology has two options that emphasize the areas
of machine design and computer assisted product design. This program
is technology based with a curriculum that includes product design
so students will gain exposure to all aspects of this field.
